Everything you need to know about our Makerspace
a collective spaceShare
Whether you’re a beginner hobbyist or a seasoned woodworker, our Makerspace offers flexible access through Day Passes (HKD 550 for up to 5 hours) or Monthly Passes (HKD 4500 for up to 6 hours per day) to foster your creativity in a safe, inclusive environment open to adults from 7 days a week, 11am - 6pm.
Membership Options and What You Get
Day Passes provide single-day access with upfront payment, non-refundable but exchangeable with 24-hour notice, ideal for one-off projects without long-term commitment.
Monthly Passes require a minimum one-month commitment, billed monthly, with 2-week notice for cancellation and perks like a 1-hour complimentary consult with the Head Carpenter, 15% discount on training fees, and tool rental priority.
Both include a daily consumables allowance, access to hand tools and workstations after mandatory safety orientation (1-2 hours for Day Pass, free for Monthly), and power tools upon request or certification.
All members must complete a signed membership form via the provided Airtable link after reviewing this info, acknowledging terms, safety rules, and a liability waiver confirming physical fitness for workshop activities.
Tool Categories and Access Levels
Tools are color-coded by skill level, with access starting after a safety walkthrough for basic Green A tools and escalating via competency tests (80% passing grade required).
New or upgraded tools follow the same category rules; training (optional but required for access) ensures safety, with certifications valid 12-24 months. Unsafe use revokes access, requiring retraining; staff approval needed for all power tools initially.
Training and Competency Assessments
We include a mandatory safety walkthrough for all passes. We cover shop rules, PPE, and all Green A tools. Advance to higher categories via classes/tests, which range in fees. Or, if you're an experienced maker, you can take our full competency test. Training hours count toward your pass limit. All members receive a 10% disocunt towards training fees.
Non-members can train too. We prioritise bookings for members.
Consumables, Finishes, and Materials
We have a generous daily allowance for consumables, finishes and materials. This allowance does not carryover, and for studio-use only. We offer free wood offcuts from designated shelves, and there is a stock of standard finishes available to all members. Our staff will let you know which items are off-limits.
You are also welcome to bring your own consumables, finishes and/or materials. If you need help purchasing certain items, please let us know. We'd be happy to help.
Safety & Studio Rules
We require all members to use PPE, and always wear closed-toe shoes in the studio. Use tools as designed, report breaks, clean as you go, no food except designated areas, beverages (leak-proof) in assembly room only. We also require all members to sign our Code of Conduct form prior to using our studio space.
All of our staff are first aid and CPR trained.
